Green Hills Organics Dandelion tea formulation is a combination of four (4) medicinal herbs – Tong Kat Ali, Catuba Bark, Red Ginseng and Maca Powder with Jamaican dandelion seed powder.
Dandelion plant has been a treasured herb for many years. Some of our favourite dandelion is sustainably harvested from the wild meadows of southern, eastern Europe and the Caribbean. The common name dandelion comes from the French word dent-de-lion, meaning "lion's tooth". Like other members of the Asteraceae family, they have very small flowers collected together into a composite flower head.
Each single flower in a head is called a floret. Many Taraxacum species produce seeds asexually by apomixis, where the seeds are produced without pollination, resulting in offspring that are genetically identical. It is these seeds that are collected to create the base powder (Dandelion Seed Powder) for all our Dandelion Powdered teas.
Historically, dandelion was prized for a variety of medicinal properties, and it contains a number of pharmacologically active compounds. Dandelion is used as an herbal remedy in Europe, North America, and China. It has been used in herbal medicine to treat infections, bile and liver problems, and as a diuretic. The product formulation comprises of the dandelion seed powder and the herbs listed below.
TONG KAT ALI - Tongkat ali also known as Malaysian ginseng is a therapeutic herb native to the Malaysian rain forests. Like many other exotic plants, tongkat ali is popular in traditional medicine. This plant is used in the traditional medicine of Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam. In Indonesia and Malaysia, the root of the plant is boiled in water, and the water is consumed as a health tonic.
CATUBA BARK- Catuaba Bark is categorized as a stimulant and is even related to the coca plant. But, you can relax. Catuaba doesn’t contain any of the alkaloids found in cocaine. Catuaba bark does contain, however, three specific alkaloids that is consumed as an herbal tonic. Because Catuaba improves overall blood circulation, it is also believed to increase circulation to the brain, stimulating it and enhancing brain function.
RED GINSENG - Ginseng is said to improve vitality and boost the body's resistance to a wide variety of illnesses and damaging external influences. It is believed to strengthen the adrenal and reproductive glands, enhance immune functions and support lung and respiratory health. However, there are no research evidence to support these beliefs.
MACA: Maca is a plant that grows in central Peru in the high plateaus of the Andes mountains. It has been cultivated as a vegetable crop in Peru for at least 3000 years. Maca is a relative of the radish and has an odor similar to butterscotch. Its root is used to make medicine. Maca is mainly grown for the nutritional and health value of its root. The majority of harvested maca is dried. In this form, the hypocotyls can be stored for several years. In Peru, maca is prepared and consumed in various ways, although traditionally it is always cooked. The freshly harvested hypocotyl may be roasted in a pit and is considered a delicacy
DANDELION SEED POWDER - Dandelion Seed is considered a superior and potent diuretic (even to synthetic products) that is commonly used to increase urine flow, rid the body of excess water and relieve bloated feelings. The high level of potassium in Dandelion is important, because large amounts of potassium are lost in the urine.
