Sandalwood essential oil (Santalum Spicatum) is obtained by the steam distillation of chips and billets cut from the heartwood of various species of sandalwood trees. These trees are heiparasitic evergreen that grows by joining the root system of other trees. Essential oil is extracted from matured sandalwood trees that are ages 40 to 80.
