Dandelion plant has been a treasured herb for many years. Some of our favourite dandelion is sustainably harvested from the wild meadows of southern, eastern Europe and the Caribbean. The common name dandelion comes from the French word dent-de-lion, meaning "lion's tooth". Like other members of the Asteraceae family, they have very small flowers collected together into a composite flower head.

Each single flower in a head is called a floret. Many Taraxacum species produce seeds asexually by apomixis, where the seeds are produced without pollination, resulting in offspring that are genetically identical. It is these seeds that are collected to create the base powder (Dandelion Seed Powder) for all our Dandelion Powdered teas.

Historically, dandelion was prized for a variety of medicinal properties, and it contains a number of pharmacologically active compounds. Dandelion is used as an herbal remedy in Europe, North America, and China. It has been used in herbal medicine to treat infections, bile and liver problems, and as a diuretic.

DANDELION SEED POWDER - Dandelion Seed is considered a superior and potent diuretic (even to synthetic products) that helps to increase urine flow, rid the body of excess water and relieve bloated feelings.  The high level of potassium in Dandelion is important, because large amounts of potassium are lost in the urine.
