The most common type of Alum available in the market is Potassium alum. The scientific name of potassium alum is hydrated potassium aluminum sulfate.

It’s a versatile salt that aids baking leavening, has antibacterial properties, and helps maintain the crispness of fruits or vegetables. Toothpaste and deodorant include Alum for its known antibacterial properties. Topically, Alum has been applied to small cuts, canker sores, and hemorrhoids.*
