Green Hills Foods stone grounded Amaranth flour is derived from the seeds of the amaranth plant. Called the “super food” by the ancient Aztecs, amaranth was fed to their runners and warriors because of its reputation for providing large bursts of energy and improving athletic performance. The name Amaranth’s comes from the Greek for “immortal” or “everlasting.”
The cultivation and flour product saw a decline, however, the flour has seen an increase in its popularity because it is gluten-free element, and many individuals who cannot intake gluten cook with this type of flour for its health benefits.
