Bladderwrack is a type of brown algae (seaweed) that can be found on the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of the United States. The main stem of bladderwrack, known as the thallus, is used medicinally. The thallus has tough, air-filled pods or bladders to help the algae float—thus the name bladderwrack. The weed for numerous illnesses, these includes thyroid disorders, iodine deficiency, obesity, lack of energy, arthritis, joint pain, blood cleansing, constipation and immune system boosting.
